Background Information: WeatherBug Program Vintage Magnet Schoolis proud to be a provider of weather data online since 1998 as part ofthe WeatherBug Schools Network (the largest weather network in theworld).
The weather data gathered from WeatherBug sites is used by tens ofmillions of households, businesses, government agencies and schoolsevery day. A WeatherBug Tracking Station, at Vintage, gathers andsends out local weather data. Check it out for yourself… go to www.weatherbug.com (just type in the zip code 91343 for the school and, if prompted, choose Vintage). A corner of the Vintage Computer Lab is dedicated to observing, recording and tracking the weather data. In the morning, the school"Meteorologist of the Day" records key weather information such astemperature, humidity, wind, precipitation, highs and lows for thecurrent day and next day and the times for sunrise and sunset. Thisinformation is announced school day mornings over the school PAsystem.
This information, plus the weeks forecast, monthly max. and min.temperatures and daily historical highs and lows for our school arecharted. A national weather map showing the high and lows with weatherfronts in also maintained.
Vintage students and staff utilize information from the WeatherBug Achieve program (http://weather.weatherbug.com/weatherbugachieve).The Achieve Program combines a combination of live weather data, dynamic graphics, interactive lesson plans that teach National andState Education Standards, and use Web-based instruction integratingmath, science and technology in an engaging multimedia format.
