Dear Parents,

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the Vintage Math / Science / Technology Magnet School community. Vintage is a very special place because of the outstanding, teachers, staff, students and parents who make up our school family. Whether you have a student who attends Vintage or you are considering sending your child to our school, you should know that our first priority is the academic success of all our students. 

We accomplish this by providing a rigorous curriculum and state of the art teaching methods. Teachers at Vintage are experienced and enthusiastic about the teaching profession. They are constantly improving their skills and perfecting the classroom experience for Vintage students. 

In addition to high caliber teaching, students have access to a computer lab, science lab, an expanded school library and technology in each classroom. Teachers use these resources to enrich their lessons and provide instruction that will prepare students for the demands of the 21st century. 

Programs at the school include the GATE program for gifted students, the English Language Development program for English Learners, and the Extended Learning Program for academically at risk students. Special Education is also available for students who are disabled and are having difficulty reaching grade level standards. 

In addition to these school programs, Vintage has a highly organized and supportive group of parents. The parents meet regularly to plan fundraisers and volunteer efforts that support the school. 

Finally, if you visit the Vintage campus, you can't help but notice the well maintained and recently renovated grounds. Vintage has benefited greatly from recent bond issues for school improvement as well as private funding for school beautification from grants. The school has a brand new playground and play equipment, many trees and greenbelts and has been upgraded with high speed Internet in every classroom.

The results of all these elements working together is an outstanding school dedicated to excellence with the high test scores to prove it. Vintage’s score on the Academic Performance Index for 2007 was 862, well above state benchmark of 800. This score makes Vintage one of the top performing elementary schools in Los Angeles Unified School District.
